Undergraduate Study in the UK ( 2 to 4 years )
- Bachelor’s Degree are of three years duration in the UK. UK school pattern follows 13 years of education. Good performance in Standard XII from CBSE, ISC and other state boards are deemed qualified for entry to year 1 of a Bachelor’s Degree in the UK.
- Application are done through an online process called Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). Some new Universities have their own Bachelor’s Degree UG application form.
Pre-Masters Programme (PMP) / Postgraduate Foundation Course (1 year)
- The most popular option for Indian students as it takes a year to complete a PG Degree. The degrees are mainly specialisations in various fields of study and requires two terms of classwork followed by a major dissertation. The PG degrees from UK are recognized all over the world and first division / upper second class from recognised Indian Universities are allowed entry to PG degrees in the UK. An English language qualification is also necessary and the most common English test taken is the IELTS (conducted by British Council).
PHD Research Degree in the UK
Research degrees can be of two types: MPhil and PhD. An MPhil takes 1 to 2 years and a PhD may take between 3 to 4 years of study tenure. A normal PG application along with a research proposal is needed to apply for these courses. An English language test (IELTSO) is also necessary to gauge the English level of the student. The research proposal is circulated amongst interested faculty members before a decision is reached. A PhD application takes about 2 months to get cleared for admission.
